But Girls Don't Drive Cars Like That!!
If only I had a dollar for every time I heard that sort of comment over the years! For anyone still stuck on the notion that only guys do up cars, I'm going to have to burst your bubble. There are numerous girls these days of all ages who have a passion for cars - this can be a simple love of driving a stock car, through to customising and modifying, drifting, dragging, racing and doing some hell good burnouts.
For all the ladies out there keen on joining a club aimed and designed for ladies to talk about their passion for all things automotive (or even for those who just want to learn a little more about cars in general, why not join Missmod. It's free to join and the online forums are a great place to meet other women with a similar passion, and most likely similar funny stories about stereotypes!
Older & Wiser

So when did my interest in cars start out ? Well I can't pinpoint it exactly, but I always wanted a 57 Chev or a 67 Fastback Mustang when I was little, and when my first car needed TLC (while I was a broke uni student) the chance to learn more about cars by doing my own services and repairs cropped up. From there I knew I had an interest in cars, and also a desire not to be a helpless female around cars.
But I am not totally "car"ist as some people are. I can appreciate many makes and models of cars, and won't just stick to one brand and slander the rest. I have a lot of respect for cars where their owner has put an immense amount of time, care and effort in. At the end of the day, in my mind it's often the driver that will be the off putting thing about a car and their attitude will either attract me to them and their machine, or make me groan and try my best to ignore them!
So what have I driven over the years, and what's next?
- First car was a Mitsubishi Colt sedan, manual with a split shift;
- Moved on to a Mazda 626 Eclipse for a bit of power and luxury;
- Living in the Qld sticks was not good, so time to move to a Nissan GQ Patrol that was awesome;
- A move to Victorian suburbia and time for my first new car a Nissan Maxima;
- A move back to the sticks in the NT and a Toyota Prado did the trick for work and play;
- Back into Victorian Suburbia and hello Nissan 200SX S15;
- Two kanga kills in outback WA and time for a second car, a Holden VS S Pak ute now BNS customised;
- Well I needed a new project and so I have a third car now. Old school WB Tonner with a 308 ready for some serious mods!!
Perhaps three cars in the garage is a little more than most people need, but it's good to have a hobby. And you have to admit that it's one hell of an eclectic mix!
